Looking for Pro Tips

Hello, we launched our website www.k9BytesSoftware.com but can’t get it ranked in any of the search engines (Yahoo, MSN, and Google). We are using www.googlerankings.com in order to see how we place in searches such as: boarding+kennel+software without any success. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated, we are a small company and we are currently working on the website ourselves

Thanks a lot for any feedback on this matter

It would be greatly appreciated if you posted an introduction.

SEO is a tricky process and takes a long time. The best way to start it off is to get many back links using anchor text that is similar to your site's content and that happens to be the keywords you're targeting.

Quote:
<META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="boarding kennel software, boarding software, grooming software, kennel software">

If i am correct you dont have to repeat the same words over and over again..instead you can just do this:

Code:
<META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="boarding, kennel, software, grooming">

Yea, it's actually negative towards your rank if you duplicate words.

Thanks! I eliminated duplicated keywords, we are working on adding a Site Map (we read somewhere that it helps the crawlers navigate your site), added some other meta tags such as Language, robots, and we finally made it to the Yahoo rank at #41 last night... Seems that there is a big inconsistency since we are currently at rank #7 in MSN and we don't show up in Google...

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks a lot

A site map enables crawlers to navigate all pages of your site (that is if they're all linked to in the site map) much easier.

Every search engine has different methods of ranking sites (algorithms). Google is amung the hardest to rank in and get a good rank because their algorithm is based mostly off of links to your site (PR).

MSN is farily easy to get listed in as they basically list every site they crawl almost immediately.

You will shift around a lot..especially in Google as Google seems to be updating these days.

Now to get into google..you can either start building link partnerships with other sites..or you can submit a sitemap to Google Sitemaps. I prefer both, as the first method helps you with your PR (page rank) and the second one results in a faster spider response from Google

Yea, good tip A.Ah. I forgot about google's sitemap section.

As A.Ah said, submitting your site map to google will get you listed quickly and creating partnership links with other sites will help you move up in rank.

Try to get the anchor text for links to your site to be keywords/keyphrases that you're targeting for search engines. Beware, of your competition; It'll take thousands of backlinks to rank well with popular keywords.
