Hello everyone, I was wondering for those who are forum owners. How often do you backup the forum database? For those who have a big database, with more than 10k posts and lots of members the database could be quite big. Also is there a way to do auto-backups? So I don't have to do it manually?

I back up my files every 6 months. And boy do i mean big. My board that i showed you (RE) has about Threads: 3,853, Posts: 58,473, Members: 1,385, its not much, but when i imported the old board before to transfer it to a new board, the SQL file was freakin huge! took me forever, I had to do it manually.
Far as automatically, im not sure about that, im sure its possible though. I think there is a way, just forgot how.

My server backs all the information up every few hours. If anything goes down, one call and all is back up as it was a few hours ago.

All servers the company I am with have these features. The server crashed once and all was lost. I just called and they restored the files and my databases within a few minutes.

Many datacenters offer NAS backup for free with purchase of thier servers. Usually 40 gbs.
Any just to let you all know, if you do backups and restores yourself it's much fast and easier to use ssh. You don't get timeouts.
