That's a great offer, but what's the catch, do you have to signup for a hosting plan first, or do you have to register it, get 1 year free and pay for 2 more years...there's always a catch somewhere

As far as I know, there is no catch, but I never signed up. There wasn't a catch with the namesecure deal.

Yep that's the catch  , though it's probably still a good deal, because 1and1 have been around for a while and they seem to be real firm genuine company

Yea, 1&1 have been around for a very long time and are one the largest and most successfull hosting companies around.

And they aren't going anywhere. Anyone who has a PC World subscription (like me!) would know that they like a four page ad in every issue. I also think they have a bunch of ads in other magazines.

lol, not just PC World, pretty much every computer magazine. I was going to order 2 .info domains, but then it asked for my credit card, screw you 1&1!

I only see this is as just taking advantage of the lower prices that .info is associated with. At namecheap you can get one for, i think, about 2.95..compare that to 8.88 of all other domains
